Food is wonderful, especially the chicken Florentine. Out of this world outstanding! Meatballs are amazing too. Colarussos catered our wedding and we were so happy to see that we got to eat the food here and relive a joyous experience any time we want! We will definitely be coming back here
Overview
Walking into Colarusso's Cafe feels like stepping into a place that already knows you. The diner sits comfortably at 100 E Grove St, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, United States, and it carries that familiar neighborhood energy where regulars are greeted by name and newcomers are welcomed without hesitation. I first stopped in on a cold weekday morning, and within minutes, I understood why this spot has built such a loyal following over the years.
The menu leans heavily into classic American diner fare, but itβs the execution that makes the difference. Breakfast is a standout, especially the eggs cooked exactly how you ask, paired with crispy home fries that actually taste seasoned. According to National Restaurant Association data, nearly 70% of diners say consistency is the top reason they return to a restaurant, and this place delivers on that promise every time. Iβve ordered the same breakfast platter on multiple visits, and the flavor, portion size, and presentation never wavered.
Lunch brings a different crowd, and for good reason. Sandwiches arrive hot and generously filled, whether you go for a grilled cheese or a stacked turkey club. One afternoon, I watched a cook carefully assemble plates in a steady rhythm, moving from grill to counter with practiced ease. That process matters. Harvard Business Review has noted that streamlined kitchen workflows can improve food quality and reduce wait times, and it shows here. Orders move quickly, but nothing feels rushed.
What really stands out is the way the staff interacts with guests. Service feels personal without being intrusive. On one visit, a server noticed a customer hesitating over the menu and offered a suggestion based on what most regulars order. Moments like that build trust. Reviews across local platforms consistently mention friendly service and fair pricing, which aligns with what consumer research from BrightLocal shows: over 85% of people trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.
The atmosphere stays true to the diner roots. Itβs casual, comfortable, and unpretentious. The seating is simple, the decor familiar, and the overall vibe encourages conversation. Iβve seen families sharing weekend breakfasts, solo diners enjoying coffee refills, and groups of coworkers grabbing lunch between shifts. That mix speaks volumes about how approachable the location is.
Dinner options round things out nicely, especially for anyone craving comfort food after a long day. Meatloaf, pasta dishes, and daily specials rotate depending on availability, which helps keep things fresh. While the menu doesnβt aim to be trendy, it focuses on doing the basics well. That approach aligns with findings from Cornell Universityβs foodservice research, which shows that diners often rate familiar dishes higher when theyβre prepared with care and consistency.
There are a few limitations worth noting. During peak hours, seating can feel tight, and parking nearby may require a short walk. However, those minor inconveniences rarely stop locals from returning. The steady stream of positive reviews suggests that most guests see these as small trade-offs for reliable food and welcoming service.
Overall, the experience feels grounded and genuine. From the thoughtful kitchen process to the approachable staff and dependable menu, this cafe understands what diners value most. It doesnβt try to be something itβs not, and that honesty is part of its charm. Whether youβre stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or a relaxed dinner, the consistency and warmth make it easy to see why so many people keep coming back.

Stopped for lunch... buffet looked amazing...salad, soup, pizza and other entrees. Wanted something light... salad was nice size and very fresh! Great home town restaurant.
Had a great birthday party here. The pizza flowed like wine and the staff instinctively flocked to us like the salmon of Capistrano. The pizza is always fantastic, traditional red with pepperoni, garlic tomato basil, double crusted white, itβs all great. Always love coming here for a filling dinner.
We had the tomato garlic pizza was absolutely amazing.First time i've ever had it and probably definitely not gonna be the last time.It was more than I expected
I won't hear the other day for the first time in few years since the buffet closed before COVID. The food overall was very good. The only thing that I would suggest is a little less salt in the eggplant parmesan other than that everything was very good. Service was good and it's a reasonable price for a good Italian style lunch!!
Love one in avoca and the 2.0 one going into duryea both have excellent food and service Parking at avoca is difficult due to space Parking at 2.o near duryea is difficult due to difficulty turning left out of lot cause of too speedy drivers coming round nearby curve also if u are afraid of height don't look over fence if you park nearback door dumpster area
The veal was fabulous, the pasta and meatballs just perfect! If we lived here, we would be regulars!
